Currently our Pre-K students are housed at Uphaus Early Childhood Center 

 

OUR VISION

To create an early childhood model school that is committed to developing life-long learners.

• Help children enjoy and become excited about learning

• Understand play is a child’s natural learning environment

• Educate parents as partners

• Welcome diversity in cultures, abilities, and families

• Teach communication, critical thinking and social/emotional skills

• Teach children strategies to become responsible for their behavior

• Use a collaborative approach to teaching, planning, and problem-solving including staff, families, and community members

• Maintain a warm, friendly, safe and supportive school family and community

 

 

ELIGIBILITY

Free Austin ISD full day PK programs which serve children who turn 3 (PK3) or 4 (PK4) by September 1 of the current school year AND:

• Have limited English proficiency, or

• Qualify for free and reduced-cost lunch, or

• A child of active military parent, or

• A child of a parent who was injured or killed during active military duty, or

• Who have been in the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services, or

• Are homeless or

• Are the child of a person who received the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer, a firefighter or an emergency medical first responder.

To register for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 of the current school year.

FAMILY EDUCATION

Our parents and families are a child’s first teachers. We provide opportunities for family members to become our partners.

• ESL Classes for family members

• E-Promotoras to help parents support and

encourage child education

• Parent Panda Club

• Active Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.)

 

 

SCHEDULE

7:10 am......... Doors open for all student arrival 

7:30................Breakfast & learning begins

10 – noon.......Lunch time (varies by teacher) 

2:15................PreK4 students are dismissed 

2:57................PK3 & K students are dismissed 

Office Hours: 7:30-3:30pm
