Dorothy Linder Elementary School

Third Grade

Welcome to 3rd Grade, a year filled with growth, exploration, and academic achievements! At Linder, our 3rd Grade curriculum is designed to align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), providing students with a well-rounded education in key subject areas. Throughout the year, students will build upon their prior knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of core concepts. In Language Arts and Reading, students will continue to enhance their reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary skills, while also refining their ability to express their thoughts through writing. Mathematics will expand their understanding of numbers, operations, fractions, and geometry, sharpening their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. In Science, students will embark on exciting investigations, exploring topics such as force and motion, ecosystems, and the scientific method, fostering their curiosity and scientific inquiry skills. Social Studies will engage students in a journey through time, as they learn about Texas history, famous Americans, geography, and citizenship, nurturing their understanding of the world and their place in it. Additionally, 3rd Grade emphasizes the development of important social-emotional skills, such as resilience, responsible decision-making, and effective communication. Through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and collaborative projects, our 3rd Grade students will thrive in an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Together, we will lay a strong foundation for their future academic success, ensuring they are well-prepared for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead!
