Dorothy Linder Elementary School

Kindergarten

Welcome to Kindergarten, a year of exciting growth and exploration! At Linder, our Kindergarten curriculum, aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), equips young learners with the knowledge and skills they need for a successful academic journey. Throughout the year, students will develop a strong foundation in key subject areas, preparing them for future success. In Language Arts and Reading, they will build upon their emergent literacy skills, learning to read and comprehend age-appropriate texts, expanding their vocabulary, and expressing their thoughts through writing. Mathematics will deepen their understanding of numbers, operations, patterns, and measurement, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Science will spark their curiosity as they explore topics like weather, plants, animals, and the properties of matter. In Social Studies, they will learn about their community, history, and citizenship, developing an understanding of their place in the world. Additionally, Kindergarten emphasizes the development of social-emotional skills, nurturing empathy, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making. Through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and engaging lessons, our Kindergarten students will thrive in an environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning. Together, we'll create a solid foundation for their ongoing educational journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for the years ahead!
